Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind, he became frightened
Come to Me over the water, Peter;
walk on the waves of the storming sea.
I know your boat is frail and fragile, but believe in Me.

For sometime the Community of All Hallows has been reflecting on, and praying for its future. How can Mother Lavinia’s original vision in the service of the Lord continue with a boat that seems increasingly fragile?
The Community’s Visitor, the Bishop of Norwich, invited Canon Andy Bryant from Norwich Cathedral to work with the Community to explore the way forward. Together a way forward is being discerned and we recognised that the time has come to step out from the security of the boat we know so well and embrace the uncertainty of the waters.
Although plans for all members are not completely finalised, it is becoming clear that whilst the Community will be continuing, its members will be dispersing and this process will be completed by Pentecost 2018. The Community’s current homes at both Ditchingham and Norwich will become vacant and new uses are being actively sought for both sites. It is our sincere hope that the new users of these sites will help reflect the vision of Mother Lavinia but for the 21st century.
Much remains to be settled but we want to reassure you that all who have been friends of the Community over the years, and especially those of you as Oblates, Associates and Members of Contact, will still have ways of continuing your links with the Community. We are sure you will have many questions you wish to ask but at this stage we may not be able to answer them all. As plans become clearer we will ensure you are kept informed.
At this stage we most of all want to ask for your prayers. We have been using the following prayer of David Adams and we invite you to use it to as we seek God’s guidance as the Community of All Hallows walks into a new future:
Grant us a vision, Lord,
to see what we can achieve;
to reach beyond ourselves;
to share our lives with others;
to stretch our capability;
to increase our sense of purpose;
to be aware of where we can help;
to be sensitive to your presence;
to give heed to your constant call. Amen.
