Programme

The Community organises a programme of Retreats and Workshops on its Ditchingham site, details of which are given below. (Enquiries are also welcome from people wishing to organise their own Retreat, Workshop or other event).

November 28th - 30th: Advent Retreat (HXH)
This is a popular preached retreat.

13-15 February:  Love bade me Welcome
Praying with George Herbert and R. S. Thomas.  Leader: Canon Michael Stagg

27 February – 1 March:  Winter into Spring Retreat.
A weekend of exploration, silent reflection and sharing, finding parts of our faith journey that share the hidden, receptive qualities of winter, and how Spring’s new life might come out of the “dead” areas of our lives.   Leader: Sue McCoulough

6 – 8 March:  Light out of Darkness – “First Steps” 
A silent retreat based on the book written by Sr. Kathleen O’ Sullivan which has transformed the lives of many. For all who would like to take further the integration of praying and living, whether newcomers or those who would like to deepen their experience of this material.  Leader: M. Elizabeth CAH & others

21 March:  Quiet Day 
A reflective day based on “The life of the Beloved” by Henri Nouwen.   Leader: M. Elizabeth CAH

3-5 April:  Circle Dance and Quiet Spaces. (St Gabriel's)
Exploring Christian Spirituality through movement and music.   Leaders: Liz Brewe and Judy Harvey

4 April:  Lent Quiet Day

29-31 May:  Spring into Summer Retreat

A reflective day on Reconciling Martha with Mary- a Christian dilemma.   Leader: Fran Hall

26-28 June:  Beginners’ Retreat
a retreat designed to help those who want to explore different kinds of prayer and to enter into silence positively and creatively.  Leaders: Sisters CAH

12 September: Associates Day

25-27 September:  The Red Queen cried, “faster, faster” and Alice replied, “but we are still under the same tree.”
A preached retreat for older people with time for talking, sharing and silence.  Leader: Sr. Violet CAH

10 October:  Quiet Day
God’s transforming power as seen in Gospel events.  Leader: Fran Hall

30 October– 1 November:  Celebrating All Saints Gregorian Style
Tuition for beginners in Gregorian Chant culminating in singing music with the Sisters for the Eucharist on All Saints Day (Nov. 1st).   Leader: Sr. Sheila CAH

20-22 November:  Light out of Darkness – “Prepare the Way”
The 2nd of 3 retreats based on the material prepared by Sr. Kathleen O’ Sullivan. (See March 6 – 8 above.)   Leaders: M. Elizabeth CAH & others.

27-29 November:  Advent Retreat
A popular preached retreat.   Leader: Revd Conal Mahony


The Day Retreats and Workshops organised by the Community run from 10 am to 4.30 pm. The cost for day retreats is £10. Please bring a packed lunch. Coffee, tea etc. will be provided.

All weekend retreats organised by the Community commence at 6.30 p.m. on Friday and finish at 4 p.m. on Sunday. The cost of a weekend retreat is £106 per person, with concessions on application to the Convent Secretary (Mrs Beccy Gosling).

All retreats (except Circle Dance) will be held at Holy Cross House and are restricted to 12 participants. These places are offered on a first-come, first-served basis so book early to avoid disappointment.

Guests need to bring their own towels, soap etc. A Bible, notebook and pen may also be useful.
